Wider pool of HR workers 'should be accessed'

Human resources (HR) workers should be picked from other areas than just schools and the current workforce, it has been stated.
Talent should be found from a wide pool of people, according to John Philpott, the chief economist at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), reports Personnel Today.
Speaking at the CIPD's annual conference, which took place in Harrogate this week, Mr Philpott talked of overcoming the shortage of skills in the UK.
One suggestion was that HR firms look to former criminals, as well as the educated individuals in the UK, to fill jobs.
"Some of the talented people of tomorrow will currently be languishing in jail and have talent that needs to be nurtured," Mr Philpott commented.
Personnel Today published results of Robert Half Management Resources research this month, which revealed that 54 per cent of HR and finance professionals think working with interim managers adds value to the workplace.
