Happy Feet 2 'to create jobs'
17/11/2008(11:58 AM)

Hundreds of new jobs could be created in Sydney by the sequel to an Oscar-winning animation movie, it has been reported.

Ian Mcdonald, the minister of state development for New South Wales (NSW), has announced the government has granted a tax break for filmmaker George Miller to bring back Happy Feet to the big screen, according to the Australian.

The report noted that the project is expected to create more than 430 new jobs over the course of the next three years.

Mr Miller told the newspaper that the government's assistance has helped attract a number of big budget international film projects in the planning stage.

"It helps us in our attempts to attract substantial foreign investment which will create hundreds of high-end, highly skilled jobs," he continued.

Meanwhile, the Sydney Morning Herald reported this week that hundreds of jobs could be created following the government's decision to lift a ban on genetically-modified cotton in Western Australia.
