New training schemes for job seekers

Job seekers in Australia will undergo new training schemes to get them back into the workplace, under new plans from the government.
Brendan O'Connor, the employment participation minister, is drawing up the plans to get businesses involved with and train unemployed people, reports the Herald Sun.
The training will involve placements working on-site and will simulate a working environment, including dressing for the role and being directed by bosses.
Mr O'Connor told the newspaper: "It's to train people; it's to provide education to people.
"But it's also to get them engaged -going to a workplace on an employment program, and learning skills, but learning to attend."
Due to the booming economy most skilled workers have found employment, so many people on the dole lack employment skills, have few skills or have a poor work history.
Trial studies have shown that two-thirds of people engaging in work experience find work, compared to just 12 per cent who were not on the program.
Peter Dufton, the previous minister for workplace participation, said that the Work for the Dole schemes allows people to upgrade or learn new skills, reports HRM Guide.
